IONA GLAF9105 Air Fryer Roasted Pork Belly

Pork belly is a fatty piece of meat that is often used to make bacon and pancetta. However it can also be roasted, resulting in a flavorful tender pork with delicious cracking. It’s that dual texture in a single bite that makes it irresistible and guaranteed to please everyone at the dining table.

Ingredients:

  •             1kg pork belly
  •             3 cups of water
  •             Sea Salt
  •             1 tsp Sugar
  •             ½ tbsp Vinegar
  •             ¼ tsp 5 spice powder

 

Instructions:

  •             Wash pork belly under a tap and scrape off hair on pork belly.
  •             In a frying pan, add water, 1 tsp salt and sugar.
  •             Once boiling, add the pork belly skin side down and cook for 8 minutes on each side.
  •             Once done, remove pork belly and allow it to cool on a rack. Pat dry with paper towels.
  •             Get a fork and punch many holes into the skin of the pork belly. (Takes 5-10 minutes) Do not punch so deep that it reaches the meat.
  •             Brush the skin with vinegar and sprinkle seat salt.
  •             Let it rest for 10 minutes and repeat the above process.
  •             Put the pork belly into the fridge uncovered for a minimum of 12 hours.
  •             Check on it once it a while to remove any moisture on the surface.
  •             Remove pork belly from fridge and apply 5 star powder on the bottom and sides of the pork belly.
  •             Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes and cook pork belly for 40 minutes at 200C.
  •             Once done, let it rest for 15 minutes before cutting.
